Message From the Founder

Greetings and welcome to Joys of Years (JoY). My name is Kalkidan, and I'm delighted to have you here. I'm a proud mother of two beautiful children, who often ask me about my parents. Unfortunately, I lost my parents at a young age, my mother at 58, and my father at 61. They never had the chance to meet my children, and I regret that they never got to experience the joys of grandparenthood.

The simple things many take for granted such as small personal notes, short videos, or voices of their parents are priceless treasures I can’t offer to my children. My children's curiosity about my parents and their personalities has inspired me to create Joys of Years.

I strongly desire to capture untold stories, especially from my family and friends. I'm fortunate to have amazing uncles, aunts, colleagues, and close friends' parents whom I consider my own family. They all have incredible stories that they've never had the opportunity to share, or they believe they don't have the right audience. 

Joy offers a wide range of companionship services to active and independent seniors, take them for a walk or visit museums. Spending time with them is a great joy, and it is a privilege to be able to listen to their stories and capture their untold experiences. Everyone has a story to share to the world. 

These stories are a treasure trove of knowledge and wisdom that we can learn from and pass on to future generations. Whether it is about culture, history, politics, religion, traditional approaches to raising a family, or as simple as a family recipe…they need to be told.  

Joy is all about capturing untold stories and making memories that will last a lifetime. Join me in this wonderful journey and let's bring joy to people's lives by sharing their untold stories with the world.
